As a PR pro, so much of my daily life revolves around what’s happening today, and what’s going to happen tomorrow. Yet as the tech industry matures, it’s critically important that we look back from time to time to learn from our successes and mistakes. This is only more prescient when the latest fad in the media is to throw around words like “bubble” and “boom," two words that most of us still have a love-hate relationship with.
That’s why I’m particularly excited about our latest book launch project, the biography Andy Grove: The Life and Times of an American. Authored by HBS Professor Richard S. Tedlow, and due out on November 2, the book offers us the most complete picture to date not only of one of our greatest tech leaders, but one of the most successful American businesspeople of all time. There are tons of books on leadership out there, but this one tells a story rooted in real events, and real people (which, by the way, is much more interesting bedside reading). Because to use Richard’s words, “we cannot know the future of the tech industry without first understanding its past.”
