Horn Group is working with the next "IT Girl" of enterprise software. Silicon Valley Watcher concluded on Friday that Oracle has effectively killed enterprise software innovation with its acquisition of Siebel. While some may have a different view, here is something we can all agree on. Tom says the bright spot is software on-demand and cites RightNow as one of only a handful of exciting companies to watch in enterprise software. Sure, it's nice to be in the right place at the right time and we are thrilled to call RightNow a client.
In terms of the category though, I actually believe that after the current "clearing house" phase ends (or Larry feels he's eaten enough), there will be a whole new generation of business consumer and corporate customer web application companies to fill a different enterprise software category. We may not call it enterprise software, but that may well be what it is with makeover. All built from scratch for a better Internet and mobile worker.
Right on Horn Group.
